Report Completed
We had completed our written report and we done lots of research, calculation, analysis and so on. Now, this week we gonna prepare our presentation for the next Wednesday.

Appointment for the absorber calculation
Next Tuesday we have an appointment with the lecturer Anura, we gonna discuss our absorber calculation and hope that we can get a very useful advise from Anura. Our aim is about the absorber length, oil viscosity, piston diameter, the size of the valve orifice and so on...

Improvement of Written Report
Today, we gave the lecturer Niranjan to see our written report and give us some advise. We been told about our bumper research was not good enough. So, we do more research about this part and finish our absorber calculation as soon as possible.

Pedestrian Impact Energy and Absorber Absorb Energy
Last week, lecturer Anura had gave us some advise about how to calculate the hydraulic absorber absorb energy. This week we got a few of question about the absorber design need to ask Anura, hope that we'll finish calculation in this week.

Calculation Issue
We done the first impact calculation, but we met the problem at second impact calculation because the unit conversion. Luckily, one of the automotive lecturer-- Anura taught us how to convert. Next step, find the grade of hydraulic absorber to meet our requirement of energy absorption.

Concept Development and Structure Development
A sneak peeks of our design. In developing the conceptual design of the absorber, systematic exploitation of proven ideas or of experience was used.
Structure
Development
The final design of our new bumper and structure.

Combine the first impact calculation
We calculate the very first impact from the moment of pedestrian's knees touch the bumper and the absorption of front rubber. After that, we calculate the absorber energy.
Thursday, 24 May 2012
Calculation to determine the number of composite energy absorbers
This week we start to calculate the impact energy, from 10km/h to 40km/h. After this, we use another formulae to calculate the absorber energy.
Wednesday, 23 May 2012
Finished our bumper and structure design.
Finally, we completely finished our design. Now, we focus on our impact calculation including the bumper impact and absorption energy.
Tuesday, 15 May 2012
Calculation the impact energy
We found the formula of crash and absorb energy formula in euroNCAP, and we gonna use it in our project. We also almost complete the solidworks design and working on our animation and simulation. Our next step is do the calculation and looking our possible fault in impact absorption energy.

Written report in progress
This week we gonna complete some of the parts in our report. Next week we need to present to our supervisor and give us some feedback.
Sunday, 29 April 2012
Design the structure of the chassis and bumper
We been finished design our new chassis structure. Our next step is looking for help with Gerry to teach us how to use solidwork design software to calculate the impact absorption and the animation as well.

Written Report
This week we start to do our written report. First, we do about the function of bumper and disadvantage in the normal bumper, material of conventional bumper, material for replace conventional, structure bumper, new structure that we use between chassis and bumper.
Friday, 30 March 2012
Start Using Solidwork Design Our Bumper
We start using the solidwork design software to design our bumper, do the animation and also calculate the crash energy. We will looking for Gerry to ask about how to calculate the crash energy through the solidwork.
Thursday, 22 March 2012
Measurement the bumper design
Last few days we discuss the bumper design and also do the measurement of the vehicle. After that, we try to use the solidworks design software to design our bumper.
Sunday, 11 March 2012
Change Our Bumper Design
We found that the honeycomb shape bumper may not really effective, so we change our design to use the absorber to fit between the bumper and the chassis. We had been done our research, such as take the photo with the structure of the vehicle, bumper, chassis and etc. First, we draw a 3D picture with the some features. Second, we demonstrate to our supervisor and discuss the features.
